Competition rules 2022 

Unless otherwise indicated, WCF rules of play will apply to entire competition. 

The no-tick rule is applied.

The 2022 Curling Masters in Champéry will be played with 15 teams playing a round robin in 3 groups of 5 teams. 

Each game is played over 8 ends. If the game is tied after 8 ends, an extra end will be played. If the extra end is blanked, the team without the hammer in the extra end wins the match. In the Quarter-, Semi- and Final Games, in case of a tie after 8 ends, extra ends are played until the game is decided. A minimum of 6 ends will be played. 

1 point will be awarded for a win and 0 points for a loss. 

At the end of the round robin, an overall ranking of all teams will be established. The top 8 ranked teams of the overall ranking will qualify for the Quarterfinals. In case of ties, a DSC will determine the final ranking. 

The winners of the quarter finals qualify for the semi-finals; the other 4 teams are equally ranked in the 5th place. 

The winners of the semi-finals will play in the final for first and second place, the two other teams are equally ranked in the 3rd place. 

There are no time clocks used at this competition. Teams will be required to adhere to the scheduled game plan. There will be no Time-Out granted. 

Round Robin 

LSD for each game 

A selected player from each team will play 2 rocks up and the same 2 rocks back to the home end. The last rock played back to the home end will determine the hammer. With sweeping. In case of tie between the players, both will play a last rock, this time without sweeping. 

All stones finishing in the house are measured from centre only. Stones that do not finish in the house are recorded as 185.4 cm (6 ft. 1 in.) Stones that finish so close to the tee that they cannot be measured are recorded as 0.0 cm. 

All LSD’s will be counted towards DSC ranking. In case of a tie, the best LSDs of each team will be compared, followed by the second and so on. 

During the round robin the first named team will play with the Red Rocks corresponding with the colour on the scoreboard and will have first practice. 

Play-off Games – Hammer and rocks 

For Quarter final play, the best ranked team will choose either the last stone in the first end or the colour of the rock. 

For Semi Final and Final Play there may be a selection of rock “sets”. In SF, teams playing on sheet B can select stones from sheets A and B. Teams playing on sheet C can select from C and D. 

SF and F the highest ranked team has the hammer and the choice of color first.

For the Finals (F) a set selection from all sheets can be made, second ranked team must choose opposite colour set. SF and F the highest ranked team has the hammer and the choice of color first.
